Planning your 2022 wedding

Planning your 2022 wedding

You may have been planning your upcoming wedding for months, years, or maybe you just got engaged and have started planning your big day. Whatever stage you are at, we are here to help with our top tips on planning your 2022 (and beyond) wedding.

Let’s start with the checklist:

  1. Say yes

  2. Budget yourself.

  3. Set a date.

  4. Find a venue.

  5. Book your registrar.

  6. Book your vendors.

  7. Pick a theme.

  8. Book a hotel.

  9. Food & wine tasting

  10. Say I do

01. Say yes

Let’s get that part out of the way before you start planning the big day.

02. Budget yourself

Think realistically. Depending on whether you are throwing a pub wedding, a grand hotel wedding, or just keeping things low-key, weddings aren’t cheap and it is important to think realistically about how much you are willing to spend.

03. Set a date

Setting a date is one of the most important things you will have to think about. Everything about the date can change the meaning and style of your wedding day. Are you going for a Summer/Winter theme? Is the date significant to you? It could be that you want to get married on the anniversary of when you and your fiancé met/got engaged. This will also affect your menu and overall wedding theme.

04. Find a venue

This part of your search may take longer than you think. It is important to find a venue that you and your fiancé fall in love with. The venue you choose is going to hold a lot of memories and must be picture-perfect for you. Be sure to go through all your options. With Laine pubs all across the capital, the options are endless. Whether you are looking for rustic and traditional or quirky and weird, we have it all to choose from. Take a look at which venues we have to offer here.

05. Book your registrar

Some couples do this before and some after finding their perfect venue. It is important to get this done well in advance as registrar slots book up quickly. Make sure to look at the council’s website for where you are getting married. For support speak to your wedding coordinator.

06. Book your vendors

Once you have found your perfect venue, then it is time to start booking your vendors. You might be thinking about having a low-key wedding, or you might be going all out for your special day. Either way, it is important to look at what you are willing to spend money on. Whether it is a wedding photographer, a florist, a live band, or just some simple wedding favours, you will need to get this all put in place in advance as these people book up quickly. With so many people getting engaged over the festive period, prices and vendors will start to become competitive. If you are getting married at one of our venues, be sure to ask for our recommended vendor list.

07. Pick a theme

You should now have found your venue and started talking to your vendors. It is now time to pick a theme. You might want to go for something original, or you may choose something trending.

Looking at 2022, the up and coming wedding trends according to hitched.co.uk are…Bridgerton-inspired weddings (this doesn’t mean dressing like it’s the 1800’s), but think splashes of blue, quintessentially English cottagecore aesthetic, and handwritten notes for your guests.

Another trend is Earthy, nature-inspired palettes. Think natural and earthy tones. With people being much more environmentally conscious, sustainable weddings are on the up. Speak to your florist about how they source their materials.

08. Book a hotel

If you are choosing to go for a pub wedding, then chances are you probably won’t need a hotel as you might have chosen somewhere local. But some of your guests might need to book a room in advance. Speak to your wedding coordinator, as many of our pub wedding locations have ties with local hotels to give your guests the best discounts.

09. Food & wine tasting

This is the fun part. You want to ensure that the menu you have chosen is perfect for you so be sure to book with your venue a food & wine tasting before confirming your menu choices.

10. Say I do
