Why choose a celebrant?

Your celebrant-led wedding – hold the registrar

Your wedding is your event. Whether an intimate winter micro-wedding at The Black Lion or an out-there carnivalesque space opera extravaganza at The Aeronaut, it can be a chilled and stress-free celebration of you, supported by wedding suppliers that get to know you and what you want.

So, what about the registrar?

Many people still don't know they have a choice other than a religious or civil ceremony. Or that a celebrant-led wedding is a creative, easy, and personal alternative.

And as a celebrant, one myth I want to explode is the role of a registrar as central to your wedding celebration.

You can choose to have a registrar attend your wedding – combining the wedding ceremony with the legal paperwork – but this isn’t essential. You’ll also want to bear in mind that unless you are fortunate, a registrar-led ceremony could be an <insert names here> experience with a cost comparable to or even more expensive than a bespoke celebrant-led ceremony.

So, if you are choosing a Pub Wedding London venue because it is perfect match for you, why not chose a celebrant-led wedding for the same reason?

You can book your wedding ceremony to take place at any of the Pub Wedding London venues without needing a registrar to attend. In fact, the legal paperwork can happen at the register office any time before or after your wedding celebration, days or weeks around the ceremony itself if you like.

Oh, and one last thing. Your ceremony doesn't need to take place in a licensed wedding venue. This means you can get married in a park, on the beach, your friend’s garden, or at your favourite Pub Wedding London venue – every one of these glorious pubs is an option if you choose a celebrant-led wedding. If a registrar is in attendance, you must choose a licensed venue. The Prince Albert and Adam & Eve are both licensed venues that can host both celebrant-led and registrar-led weddings.

It’s your wedding, your way, with a celebrant-led wedding. Don’t let the paperwork bit limit your imagination.

About me

I’m Mark Caffrey, and I deliver personal, creative, and inclusive wedding and naming ceremonies across London and the South East.

I’ve worked as a writer, performer and voice artist, and know how to create a special and unique celebration for you.

Whatever your time scale, I give each ceremony the attention and care it deserves. Securing me as your celebrant means we can craft an event that is as intimate or as out-there as you want it to be. I will support, encourage and get to know you – and can liaise with Pub Wedding London, your photographer and other suppliers.

I’ll be joining the Pub Wedding Fair on 11th June 2023 in Forest Hill if you want to drop by, say hi and ask me any questions. Otherwise, you can visit me here and here, or find me on Instagram @markcaffreyceremonies_
