The rise of the micro wedding
What is a micro wedding?
Micro weddings are simply weddings done on a much smaller scale. Think about shaving off that additional zero on two hundred and you whittle the guest list down to 20.
The appeal of a micro wedding is that you remove the stress of planning a big scale wedding and get a chance to focus on a beautiful intimate alternative. The pressure is off of you, and gives a bigger chance to figure out the finer details in a more personable manner.
2021 has seen a rise in popularity for micro weddings, here’s a few pointers as to why.
Money Smart
By having a handful or so guests you are reducing the overall spend, mostly because you wouldn’t require such a large venue to fit everyone in. The spend per head might be similar but feeding a dozen guests instead of a small army of a hundred and fifty really does bring a welcome break to the bank balance.
It may not be actually about saving money but the desire to splash money on the finer things at your micro wedding. It maybe you want Crystal glassware, the gorgeous Italian designer wedding dress, a big luxurious honeymoon or month-long faraway adventure.
Don’t like speaking in front of large crowds?
A micro wedding won't make you feel uncomfortable speaking in front of large crowds. There's no need to stress about projecting your voice or even using a microphone when you're exchanging your vows in this small intimate setting. Celebrating with your nearest and dearest has never felt so comfortable.
Not missing a moment with your favourite people.
A common statement often heard by us is that it’s all over so quickly and that it’s difficult to any lengthy amount of time with your nearest and dearest. A micro wedding gives you the opportunity to spend time with those you value the most and really celebrate together - much better than a quick 'hello, thanks for coming'.
Don’t get us wrong, we love a big wedding, a big old knees up with DJs and dancing and all things crazy. But if you are looking for something, less stressful, potentially budget freeing or just to do something a little different – a micro wedding may be just the alternative you have been looking for.
